Support after loss without being expected to "move on."
You don’t need to be unable to function to seek grief counseling.
Grief counseling may help if:
You think about the loss constantly
You avoid reminders or places connected to them
You feel guilt about things you said or didn’t say
Sleep has changed since the loss
You feel detached from people or activities
You feel pressure to be “over it” by now
You’re functioning but life feels flat or unreal
Alcohol or other coping habits have increased
Grief often shows up as anxiety, irritability, or numbness rather than sadness alone.
We work on:
reducing mental replay loops
processing unfinished thoughts
tolerating reminders instead of avoiding them
lowering the intensity of sudden emotional spikes
reconnecting with normal life without losing the person
The goal is not to feel nothing.
The goal is to remember without the memory taking control.
Sessions are conversational, compassionate, and practical.
We may:
talk directly about the loss at your own pace
work through specific memories that keep returning
address guilt or “what if” thoughts
rebuild routines disrupted after the loss
gradually reduce avoidance patterns
You set the pace. There is no requirement to share more than you want.
Grief counseling is commonly helpful after:
Death of a partner, family member, or friend
Overdose or sudden death
Medical illness or long decline
Miscarriage or pregnancy loss
Loss of a pet
Divorce or relationship loss
Major life changes that feel like losing a former life
If the loss still feels present long after others expect you to be fine, counseling can help.
Clients often report:
fewer intrusive thoughts
improved sleep
less guilt
ability to talk about the person without shutting down
more consistent mood
feeling present again
Grief counseling is available by secure telehealth throughout Colorado.
Private, one-on-one, and paced to you.
